ArcheAge S: Strait of Freedom, key visual

On 6 September 2026, Minwoo Kang published on Inven Global the BI and the key visual of ArcheAge S: Strait of Freedom. Kakao Games dated the announcement 7 September, Korea time. The PC MMORPG was developed by XLGAMES and, as they said then, the global release on Steam aimed at the second quarter of 2027.

Our own news piece based on the article by Minwoo Kang on Inven Global (6 September 2026). The full article is in the original, in English.

Five figures and a fleet

ArcheAge S: Strait of Freedom is another game. It is not ArcheAge Chronicles. In the key visual there are five characters tied to the lore and a fleet cutting through the sea. Inven Global reads there the shift from land to naval war. Kultur.jp, on 7 September and unsigned, speaks of the ships already known from ArcheAge and of the bond of those five figures with the world. The picture is not here. You can see it on Inven Global and on Kultur.jp.

“The key visual reinterprets the world and tone of the original game in a classic art style.”

— Minwoo Kang, Inven Global

The S of the BI

The BI inherited the composition of the ArcheAge IP and added the sea, sailing and a compass. The letter that led was the S of Strait, the subtitle: there the ocean and the voyage were concentrated.

Kim Kyung-tae and the launch date

It was developed by XLGAMES, with Kim Kyung-tae at the head. Inven Global recalls that he was the first head of planning and the producer of the original ArcheAge. The Kakao Games note on Games Press, of 7 September 2026 in Seongnam, calls him project director and chief designer and producer of that game, with an eye on those who played MMORPGs then.

“ArcheAge S: Strait of Freedom is targeting a worldwide PC launch in Q2 2027.”

— Kakao Games, in its press release

Inven Global places the global service on Steam. For that September, Kakao Games announced a developers' video: philosophy, intention and real gameplay. Games Press adds the decisions already taken and gameplay that had not yet been seen. Kultur.jp noted, on 7 September, that there were no images of the game then.

The IP deal is in the news of the sale.
